Make a square profile picture at the size each platform expects.
Processing: This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your input and any file you open stay on your device — nothing is uploaded to a server.
How to use the profile picture maker
- Open your image.
- Pick the target size from the list.
- Choose whether to crop to fill or fit the whole image, then download.
About this tool
Profile pictures are stored square and displayed as a circle almost everywhere, which quietly removes the corners — about 21% of the image area. Anything near a corner will be cut, so keep the face centred and leave a margin.
Larger is safer: upload at 800 pixels or more and the platform downscales cleanly. Uploading a small image and letting it be enlarged is what makes an avatar look soft next to everyone else's.
Common uses
- Making a clean avatar from a photo.
- Producing one square image for several services.
- Checking what survives a circular crop.
Frequently asked questions
- What size should a profile picture be?
- At least 400×400, ideally 800×800 or larger. Platforms downscale well and upscale badly.
- Why does my picture look cropped?
- Most services show a square image inside a circle, which cuts the corners. Keep the subject centred.
