Processing: This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your input and any file you open stay on your device — nothing is uploaded to a server.
How to use the passport photo size tool
- Open your image.
- Pick the target size from the list.
- Choose whether to crop to fill or fit the whole image, then download.
About this tool
Passport photos are specified in millimetres or inches, not pixels, so the pixel size depends on the print resolution: 35×45 mm at 300 dpi is 413×531 pixels, and at 600 dpi it is 827×1063.
This handles the dimensions only. It does not check the requirements that actually get photos rejected — head size within the frame, background colour, expression, glasses, shadows — which differ by country and are worth reading before you rely on any photo. Where a submission is important, an official checker or a photographer remains the safer route.
Common uses
- Sizing a photo for an online passport application.
- Preparing an ID photo for printing.
- Converting between the metric and US formats.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the standard passport photo size?
- 35×45 mm in the UK, EU and much of the world; 2×2 inches (51×51 mm) in the US. Both are offered here.
- Will this guarantee my photo is accepted?
- No. It sets the dimensions correctly, but acceptance also depends on head position, background, lighting and expression, which vary by country. Check the official guidance.
