Cookies and similar technologies

The short version

The tools themselves do not need cookies to work. What may be stored falls into three groups: preferences you set, analytics that count visits, and — once advertising is enabled — cookies set by the advertising provider.

Preferences

Some tools remember a setting between visits, such as your preferred units or output format, using your browser’s local storage rather than a cookie. This never includes the content you process. Clearing site data in your browser removes it.

Analytics

Analytics is used to understand which tools are used and which are missing, so development effort goes where it is needed. It records page addresses and general technical information, never the input you give a tool.

Advertising

When advertising is enabled, the ad provider may set cookies to measure delivery, limit repetition and, subject to your consent where required, personalise ads. Those cookies are set by the third party under its own policy.

Your choices

• Where consent is legally required, you will be asked before non-essential cookies are set, and you can change your answer at any time.
• Every browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. Blocking them does not stop the tools from working.
• Browser privacy modes and tracking protection also apply here and are respected.
