YouTube Thumbnail Resizer
Resize an image to YouTube's thumbnail, banner or profile picture sizes.
Processing: This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your input and any file you open stay on your device — nothing is uploaded to a server.
How to use the youtube thumbnail resizer
- Open your image.
- Pick the target size from the list.
- Choose whether to crop to fill or fit the whole image, then download.
About this tool
A YouTube thumbnail is 1280×720 — 16:9, and under 2 MB. Anything else gets scaled by YouTube, usually with visible softening on text.
The channel banner is the awkward one: the image must be 2560×1440, but only the central 1546×423 is guaranteed visible, because the rest is cropped differently on TV, desktop and mobile. Keep anything that must be read inside that middle band.
Common uses
- Making a thumbnail from a video still.
- Preparing a channel banner that survives cropping.
- Resizing artwork for a channel profile picture.
Frequently asked questions
- What size is a YouTube thumbnail?
- 1280×720 pixels, 16:9, under 2 MB. Smaller images are accepted but look soft on large screens.
- Why does my banner get cut off?
- The 2560×1440 image is cropped differently per device. Only the central 1546×423 is always visible — keep text inside it.
