About this tool
Contracts and service levels are usually written in working days, which makes them awkward to count by hand once a weekend or two is involved.
Saturdays can be included, since a six-day week is standard in some industries and countries. Public holidays are not deducted: they differ by country, region and year, and quietly applying one country's calendar would be worse than leaving them out. Subtract them yourself, or check against a local calendar for anything contractual.
Common uses
- Working out a service level deadline.
- Counting billable working days in a period.
- Checking a notice period expressed in working days.
Frequently asked questions
- Are public holidays counted?
- No — only weekends are excluded. Holidays vary by country and region, so subtract the ones that apply to you.
- Does the start date count?
- When counting between dates, the start day is not counted and the end day is. When projecting forward, counting begins the day after the start date.
