About this tool

An invoice is a request for payment, and a few details decide whether it gets paid on time: a unique number, clear dates, itemised work, and payment terms stated on the document rather than assumed.

The number matters more than it looks. Sequential, unique numbers are a legal requirement in most jurisdictions and the thing accountants ask for when something is missing. Pick a scheme — INV-0001 upwards, or year-based like 2026-014 — and never reuse one.

Everything here stays in your browser. That is the point for this tool in particular: an invoice contains your client's name, address and what you charged them, which is exactly the sort of thing that should not be typed into someone else's server to get a PDF back.

Common uses

  • Billing a client for freelance work.
  • Issuing an invoice with tax broken out.
  • Producing a consistent invoice without a subscription.

Frequently asked questions

What has to be on an invoice?
Typically: the word invoice, a unique number, both parties' names and addresses, the date, a description of what is charged, the amounts, any tax, and the total due. Registered businesses usually must also show a tax or VAT number — check your local rules.
Are my client's details uploaded?
No. The PDF is generated in your browser, so the names, addresses and amounts never leave your device.
What payment terms should I use?
Net 14 or Net 30 are common. Shorter terms get paid sooner; whatever you choose, state it on the invoice rather than relying on an unspoken assumption.
