Countdown Timer
Set a timer for any length, with presets, a progress bar and an alert when it finishes.
Processing: This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your input and any file you open stay on your device — nothing is uploaded to a server.
How to use the countdown timer
- Enter minutes and seconds, or tap a preset.
- Press start.
- Leave the tab open to hear the alert.
About this tool
Set a duration, press start, get a sound at zero. The progress bar makes the remaining time readable from across a room, which a bare number is not.
The count is measured against the clock rather than by counting ticks, so it stays accurate when the tab is in the background — an ordinary interval-based timer loses time there, sometimes minutes of it. The alert does need this tab to remain open, since a closed page cannot make a sound.
Common uses
- Timing something in the kitchen.
- Keeping a presentation slot to length.
- Boxing off a short task.
Frequently asked questions
- Does it keep running if I switch tabs?
- Yes, and it stays accurate — the remaining time is worked out from the clock, not counted down tick by tick.
- Will it alert me if I close the tab?
- No. A closed page cannot play a sound or raise a notification. Keep the tab open.
