How to use the browser & device info

  1. Read the tables — they update as you resize the window.
  2. Copy everything if a support desk asked for it.
  3. Check the capability section if something is not working in this browser.

About this tool

Everything here is what any website can read about your setup without asking permission, which makes this page useful twice over: as a quick answer when a support desk asks for your screen size or browser version, and as a demonstration of how much a page can see.

The display figures are the ones that catch people out. Your window size is smaller than your screen size, and both differ from the effective resolution once the device pixel ratio is applied — a 'Retina' display reports 1440 wide in CSS pixels while having 2880 real ones.

The readings update live, so resizing the window or going offline is reflected immediately.

Common uses

  • Answering a support request for your browser and screen details.
  • Checking the CSS viewport size while testing a layout.
  • Confirming whether a browser feature is available.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my screen resolution lower than the one I bought?
Values are in CSS pixels. Multiply by the device pixel ratio for physical pixels — that product is shown as the effective resolution.
Is any of this sent anywhere?
No. It is read in the page and displayed only to you. Any other site could read the same values.
