About this tool

Merging concatenates documents: the pages of the second file follow the pages of the first, keeping their original size, orientation and text. Nothing is re-encoded, so quality is untouched and the merged file is roughly the sum of its parts.

Order is the part people get wrong, so the list is editable — move files up or down before merging, and check the page counts shown next to each one. If a file cannot be read, it is marked in the list and skipped rather than silently corrupting the output.

The work happens in the page using pdf-lib. Most tools with this name upload your documents to a server; contracts, invoices and medical records are exactly the sort of thing that should not be posted to a stranger's queue, so here they never leave the device.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a limit on how many files I can merge?

No fixed limit. Because everything is held in memory on your device, very large documents are bounded by available RAM rather than by an upload quota.

Does merging reduce quality?

No. Pages are copied across as they are — text stays selectable and images are not re-compressed.

Can it merge a password-protected PDF?

No. Encrypted files have to be unlocked in the application that protected them first. The password is never sent anywhere, so it cannot be recovered here.
