About this tool
Saturation controls how intense the colours are, without touching brightness. At 0% the image is greyscale; above 100% colours get stronger.
Skin tones are the limit in practice. They turn orange well before landscapes look over-cooked, so a portrait usually tolerates far less saturation than a photo of a sunset.
Common uses
- Reviving colours in a flat photo.
- Muting colours for a subtler look.
- Removing colour gradually rather than all at once.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the difference between saturation and vibrance?
- Saturation raises every colour equally. Vibrance protects already-saturated colours and skin tones — this tool applies plain saturation.
