About this tool

Search engines and social platforms read different tags for the same page. A title and meta description drive the search snippet; Open Graph properties control how a link looks when it is shared; Twitter Card tags do the same on X. Missing any of them means the platform guesses, usually badly.

Length guidance here is approximate on purpose. Search engines measure pixel width rather than characters, and they rewrite descriptions when the query suggests something better. Around 50–60 characters for a title and 140–160 for a description usually survives intact; beyond that, put the important words first so a truncated snippet still reads.

Not directly. It affects whether people click the result, which is reason enough to write it deliberately.

X falls back to Open Graph when Twitter-specific tags are absent, so the extra tags are only needed when you want a different image or card type there.

What size should the share image be?

1200×630 is the safe default for a large summary card, and it degrades acceptably everywhere else.
