GIF to JPG
Convert GIF images to JPG in your browser, with no upload and no watermark.
Processing: This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your input and any file you open stay on your device — nothing is uploaded to a server.
How to use the gif to jpg
- Choose your GIF file.
- Adjust the quality if the target format is lossy.
- Download the JPG file.
About this tool
Conversion happens in the page: the GIF file is decoded by your browser, redrawn, and re-encoded as JPG. Nothing is uploaded, so there is no queue and no copy of your image on someone else's machine. The practical ceiling is your own device's memory rather than a server's rules.
The first frame only, and transparency becomes a solid background. GIF's 256-colour palette means there is little detail to lose.
The image's pixel dimensions are unchanged — only the format and file size differ. To change the size as well, use the image resizer afterwards.
Common uses
- Sending an image to software that will not accept GIF.
- Reducing the file size of a GIF image.
- Standardising a set of images on one format.
Frequently asked questions
- Is my GIF file uploaded?
- No. Your browser decodes the GIF and re-encodes it as JPG on your own device, so the image never reaches a server and the only limit is your device's memory.
- Does converting GIF to JPG lose quality?
- Slightly. JPG is a lossy format, so re-encoding costs a little quality even from a lossless source. At 90% the difference from the original GIF is rarely visible at normal viewing size.
- Does JPG support transparency?
- No. JPEG has no alpha channel, so any transparency in the GIF is filled with the background colour you choose above rather than carried across.
- Are the pixel dimensions changed?
- No. A GIF at 4000×3000 becomes a JPG at 4000×3000 — only the encoding changes, not the number of pixels. Use the image resizer if you need to change the dimensions as well.
